Hysteroscopy

Hysteroscopy is a type of endoscope equipped with a light and a camera. It allows clear look of the internal structure and changes in the uterine cavity, and helps doctors make accurate diagnoses and treatments. Due to its low invasiveness, this surgery has a lower risk and is relatively safe.

During hysteroscopy, the instrument is inserted through the vagina and cervix into the uterus, and the images captured by the camera are transmitted to a screen, enabling the doctor to observe the inside of the uterus. Hysteroscopy can be used for minimally invasive surgery or treatment of uterine fibroids, endometrial polyps, intrauterine adhesions, and congenital uterine malformations, as well as for the investigation of pregnancy loss, infertility, displacement of contraceptive devices, and evaluation before artificial insemination or in vitro fertilisation (IVF) treatment. Pregnant women or those with pelvic infections should avoid undergoing hysteroscopy.
