Menopausal Problems
Menopausal Problems
Menopause refers to the period before and after the cessation of menstruation in women. As women reach the age of 45–55, the function of their ovaries gradually declines, and the menstrual cycle becomes irregular. These conditions persist for a period of time until menstruation has ceased for over a year, which is considered menopause. The median age of menopause in Hong Kong is 51 years old, but the actual situation varies from person to person. Menopause can also cause other physiological and psychological changes, including hot flashes, vaginal dryness, osteoporosis, changes in the heart and blood vessels, and mood swings.
Women with menopausal symptoms can receive physical examinations and evaluation services. Doctors can provide hormone therapy and bone density tests as needed. Hormone therapy can help alleviate the symptoms caused by the rapid decline in female hormone levels.
Menopause is a natural phenomenon in a woman's life, and it should be actively faced. Women should maintain a healthy diet and exercise in moderation, as well as cultivate new interests and learn new skills to enrich their lives and relieve emotions and stress.
